Mixed Media Dream Catcher

Hello crafty people,

Since we are going to enter in the month of love soon, here a beautiful mixed media project to inspire you all. This project is one of a kind and can be customized with endless possibilities. So lets dive right into it.

First of it's important to get a thick hard board for the background support. I have used a heavy chipboard. Cut the chipboard half an inch smaller than the big hoop. Cover both the hoop and the chipboard with black gesso.

Choose the paper of your choice for background. Apply a good coat of either matt mod podge or clear gesso. Then use any of your favourite stencil to add some texture on the pattern paper.

Next up, is adding some colors. I used impasto colors completely diluted to get the blue tone going with a pink undertone. Make sure you dab off the extra watery color off.

Now its time to embellish the beautiful frame. I chose postcard size for my photo and created multiple layers of pattern paper to create the photo mat. With the help of some die cut alphabets i created a small banner on top spelling the word 'LOVE'.

I added some flowers going with my color palette. A couple of feathers here and there, some art stones and some clear water droplets.

Next I adhered the pattern paper to the chipboard and chipboard the back of the inner hoop.
Finally i added some beautiful laces, trims and chipboard feathers to the bigger hoop and attached both the hoops.

I applied black gesso to the feather chipboards and dry brush painted them with impasto colors. I also used some metallique wax from Prima in color rose gold on the feathers, otter of the hoops and on pattern paper to make some shadowy effect.

Hope you all liked this mixed media dream catcher and are inspired to make your own version too.
Do share your version with me. Leave a link to your project in the comment section below.
Until next time

XOXO

See The Good - Mixed Media Canvas

Hello crafty friends,

Wish you all a very Happy New Year! Let's all have a very creative 2018.
And to kick start this year I have a very beautiful mixed media canvas to share with you all. This is my first try with Prima Marketing paints & waxes. So without further adieu lets get started.

To start with the project I used an old MDF board, which had been lying around with me from quite a while, as my base. When doing a mixed media project I first like to collect all the embellishments and other materials required.

Second step would be to prime all the embellishments with white heavy gesso. I only painted the back of my MDF board with gesso and not the front as I wanted my canvas to have shabby look with the burlap background.

The third step is to attach the burlap (you can use a pattern paper of your choice as well) to the base with the help of a heavy body gel medium. In case of a paper you can use tacky glue as well.

Once the burlap is adhered to the base and dried, I used a script stencil and covered a few places using a texture paste.

Once the texture paste dried out, I used impasto paints to give the shabby colored look to the canvas. Make sure you dilute the paints while painting or keep spraying water or else paint will stick to one place and become difficult to work with.

Next step is to adhere the embellishments in the order you desire. I used heavy body gel to adhere them and leave it overnight to dry out. In case of a hurry you can use hot glue as well to stick them.
Since it was difficult to work on the embellishments under the clock dial for me I removed it and stick it back after the painting of the embellishments.

I started painting the embellishments with impasto paints in the color cobalt as my base color on all of the embellishments giving them full coverage. Do keep in mind you have to dry brush the paint on the embellishments and not add even a single drop of water unlike base painting. 2 coat was of the color crimson and the final coat was of Azure to highlight a few places of the embellishments.
You can color as per your wish and keep on adding the paint colors until u get you desired result.
After the paints have dried out, i used two metallic wax colors - bronze age and rose gold. Please keep in mind these waxes a re highly pigments so a pinch of wax is more than enough to cover all your embellishments.
I used a pocket card as my sentiment. I colored it with my impasto paints as well. And finally added some art stones to bring the whole look together.

I didn't like the white of the art stones, and decided to color and wax them the same way i did all my embellishments.
Here's the complete look of the canvas in detail and in close-up.

Hope you liked it and are inspired to make one of yours too. For any more information or queries, leave a comment below and i will be happy to help.
Until next time,
XOXO,
JK

New Year CAS Card

Hola crafty friends,

Since new year is just around the corner and everyone is busy prepping for gifts and cards for their loved ones, I'm going to keep this post short and simple just like my project.
Here's my take on a clean and simple new years card, let's have a look.
I started by giving the dots texture to my card mat with the help of some texture paste (homemade) and a dots stencil. I then used a yellow colored distress oxide ink and covered the whole mat with an ink blending tool. I tried to keep the centre light in color and all four sides dark giving it an ombre effect. I then simply tore a pattern paper with my hands and stick it with tacky tape in the centre.
I then used a hemp cord and tied it in the centre making an 'X'. I used a happy new year stamp on a black sheet and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.
I finished off the card with some mulberry flower arrangement along with die cut leaves.
Hope you liked this CAS card and will give it a try too. Do share with me your creations, I love seeing them.
Until next time,
XOXO,
JK

Boutonnière

Hello my fav crafty people,

Today I am presenting a very easy DIY. I have made 2 very cute and simple yet beautiful boutonnières. For all those who are new to this term, a boutonnière is a french for buttonhole. It is basically a floral decoration worn by men on their formal coats.

These are very simple to make. You just need to know how to combine the flowers together, i.e. creating a bunch of flowers. I made one in teal color and one in vintage pink color. Let's take a closer look.

I used 2 bunches of pollens in pink and white, one vintage pink mulberry rose flower 4 pale pink rose buds and 2 mulberry leaves to bring it all together.
For the teal bunch, i used one poppy mulberry rose, 3 micro white roses, 2 bunches of white pollens and finally 2 mulberry leaves, bringing the whole bunch together.
You can add some brown jute cord to add more interest to these beauties.

Hope you liked this very simple to make project.

Until next time,
XOXO,
JK

Accordion Flip Mini Album

Hi everyone,

I am here with a very interesting project today! It is by far one of my favorite mini album I have made. And trust me I have made many!
One of the many reasons I love making this album is 'coz it has no binding... Yes you heard me right! A bind free album it is. It is made in such a manner that the binding is in the flips of the pages itself.  I used the beautiful hydrangea lawns paper-pack for this album. Since the pages in itself are so beautiful I didn't do any embellishments on the pages.
For the cover I simply added a few feathers and white mulberry flowers, along with a few flat-back pearls. For the closure, I used two same size decorative buttons and a white cord.
Here's a closer look of the album

Now let's get inside of this beautiful and simple album.

Hope you liked this project as much as I loved making it.
Until next time,
XOXO,
JK

Wedding / Anniversary Memory Album

Hello crafty people,

Today I am sharing with you all a very simple to make wedding/anniversary album. I made this album for a friends parents. Keeping in mind that it was their 32nd Weeding Anniversary I tried to keep it simple for them to add as many pictures as they would like. I used the White and gold theme paper for the same.

For the cover of the album, I used a brick wall stencil. The from I used was inside of the paper-pack I used to make this album. I used a very broad trim lace on the spine of the album. And to finish it off a mix of both mulberry and foam flowers.

Since I didn't have any border die with me, I traced the design by pencil and simply cut it with scissors for making the pockets in the album. For the various sentiments used inside the album I simply used MS word to write them in different beautiful lettering fonts and got them printed. I fussy cut them and pasted them with the help of double sided tape to give dimension.

Here's the complete album, hope you like it!

Until next time,
XOXO,
JK

Tea / Coffee Dispenser

Hey crafty people,

I am back with another fun project! A nice dispenser for your green tea bags which can be kept on your desktop at work or on your bedside table to motivate you. This is nothing but up-cycling of the carton in which you get your green tea bags/coffee satches.

Let's get started!

I started with opening of the complete packaging and creating a small outlet at the bottom of the box and putting back the box together. I used DCWV The Natural Matstack. I have had this cardstock in my stash from a very long time. Its almost 4 years old paper line by DCW.
I made the cute little cups and a kettle with the help of quilling and then colored them with acrylic paints as per my choice of colors.
For the little sentiments I printed some images and texts as per my required font and fussy cut them. I used Antique linen Distressed ink to give a little tea stain on the prints.
Also I used foam cut alphabets to spell TEA and give the box a little oomph! ;)
Here's another one I made!
Hope you liked this cute little up-cycle project.

Until next time,
XOXO,
JK
