Travel More - Art Journal Page

Hola crafty peeps,

Many of you have asked me on how to make art journal pages, what to use, how to use! So to end all your misery I thought of doing a step by step tutorial for you all to watch and learn. I started art journaling only recently myself so i am gonna share all that I know with you all.

Since my goal for this year is to travel more and wander into nature as much as I can, therefore, I thought of representing it in the best way I know which is mixed media. here are some close ups -

So let's dive into the tutorial!

Hope you liked the simple process of making this journal page and are inspired to create one of yours as well. Do tag me in your journal pages I would love to see them.

Shabby Chic Mixed Media Jar

Hola beautiful crafters,

I am back with a picture tutorial for you all on how to alter a glass jar in a shabby chic style. This jar can be used as a flower vase, a brush holder, pen holder, possibilities are endless.

Let's get started!

Step 1 - Cover the jar with heavy gesso white.

Step 2 - Use apply chalk paints of your choice (I used 2 shades of pink, one dark one light) I went in for a dual tone effect. I also adhered my clay frames before painting.

Step 3 - Since I wanted to give it an ombré effect, I applied IMMIX metallic paint in the color pinky toes in the centre to merge the shades going from dark to light upwards.

Step 4 - I took some flowers from my stash and covered them with white gesso.

Step 5 - Once dried, I arranged the flowers and adhered them on the jar on opposite sides. I also added a white lace on the rim of the jar.

Step 6 - I used a couple of metal butterflies and covered them with white gesso first and then colored them using IMMIX metallic paint holiday gold.

Step 7 - I dry brushed the IMMIX metallic paint holiday gold on the clay frames as well as on the visible areas of jar over the calk paints.

Step 8 - I finally adhered the butterflies and added some deco stones around to fill in some empty spaces.

Hope you liked the project and are inspired to up-cycle one of your own old glass jar as well. Do tag me in your creations inspired by this one, I would love to see them.

Until next time
XOXO

Altered Hoop

Hola crafty people,

We are already half way through the first month of the new year and I have something really fun for you to create. Over so many years, people have shared their versions of altered hoop and here is mine! A mixed media altered hoop steampunk style.

I used natural cord and created a mesh to support all my chipboard and metal embellishments. I covered it with black gesso and then adhered my chippies and metal embellishments using heavy body gel. I used some buttons and art pebbles to add dimensions. Once satisfied with the layout, I covered everything with a coat of black gesso again.

Next I colored with IMMIX metallic paints from Expressions craft. I only used two colors and dry brushed them. To brighten up the project I also dry brushed with white gesso.
Here are some close up looks!

Hope you liked this new creation. Stay tuned for many more mixed media inspirations this month. Leave a comment and let me know if you want me to create something.

Until Next Time,
XOXO

Shabby Chic CAS Cards

Hello beautiful crafters,

I am back with another video tutorial for you all on Prika's channel. I have curated these two shabby chic clean and simple cards for you.

I used an off-white card-stock paper for the base of my cards and layered with pattern papers. I embellished both the cards with different layers but keeping the elements same. I have used chipboards, flowers, die cuts and cheesecloth to add layers. Here’s the video tutorial, enjoy!

Hope you liked these cards and are inspired to make one too. Do tag me in your creations I would love to see them.

Until Next Time,
XOXO,

JK
