Altered Window Frame

Hola Lovely Crafters,

Hope you are well and safe at home!

After a little long break, i am back with a simple and quick project, a mixed media altered window with a frame.

I used a wooden window and adhered a round resin frame on top of it. I used a lot of fussy cut elements along with handmade paper flowers to embellish the composition.

Here are some close ups -

Here is the process tutorial on how to make this elegant frame -

Mixed Media Shadow Box - Beauty in Simplicity

Hola beautiful crafters,

Wish you all a happy, crafty and a prosperous new year!
Let's kick start this year with an exciting mixed media project. I have created a simple wall decor piece for you all.

I have used a shadowbox made from black card-stock and embellished it with chipboards and metal embellishments to create this look. Since I have done a few mixed media projects for beginners, I thought of taking it a notch up for you all to experiment and see what more can be done with the same supplies.

Here's the video tutorial!

Hope you all enjoyed watching it. Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and press the bell icon for regular video tutorial updates.

Shabby Chic Shadow Box Frame

Heya, beautiful crafters!

I am back with another exciting project for you all. My today’s project is all about layering using various elements and a special focus on Chipboard elements.

Here are simple steps to follow to make one of your own -
To begin with I cut out pattern paper as per the size of my frames. I distressed the edges with distress tool and then with distress ink. I then adhered them.

Next I added some lace to add a layer in the background.

I used some tubby craft inks and created a border around the edges of my frames using stencils.

After this I stuck my two frames together and arranged all the flowers, clay molds and chipboard elements around my small frame.
Once I was satisfied with my arrangement I stuck them altogether.

I colored my sentiment chipboard with tubby craft ink in mustard color and then highlighted it with glossy accents.
I lastly added some micro beads in gold color here and there.

Here are some detailed images of the final project.

Hope you liked the project and are inspired to make one yourself.

Until next time

XOXO

Altered Mixed Media Frame

Hola crafty peeps,

I am here with an altered frame with a twist. The twist is that I have used MDF window shutters to create a picture space on the frame itself.

I have used the newly launched metallics form Expressions Craft Studio. The quality of these paints is just amazing. I loved the fluffy consistency of these colors and the sheen they have is brilliant. They work well on both black and white gesso without loosing the color and sheen. A total of 26 shades have been launched which you can buy from the website here.
I can go on and on about these beautiful colors but for now let's dig in to the project tutorial.

Step 1 - I covered my window and the frame with IMMIX heavy white gesso.

Step 2 - Using IMMIX texture paste and the newly launched brick stencil add the design around the frame.

Step 3 - Add some IMMIX crackle texture paste here and there and sprinkle some sprinkle glitz over it for some grungy texture.

Step 4 - Adhere all the required chipboards and cover them with white gesso. Also adhere the window shutters in its place.

Step 5 - I used the new launched chalk paint color red cherry wood and covered the brick area as far as possible.

Step 6 - I highlighted the bricks pattern using the new chalk paint color Military brown

Step 7 - Using the newly launched metallics in the color jungle green I covered all the chipboard branches

Step 8 - Finally add all the flowers around the shutters along with deco art atones. I also in the end used metallic colors mari gold and bronze moon to highlight the window and brick wall texture.

Here are some detailed pics -

I hope you liked this mixed media project using the newly launched products from expressions craft. Do tag me in your projects inspired from this one.

Until next time

Altered Ornamental Frame

Hola crafty peeps,

Today I am here with yet another mixed media alteration for you all.
I received a beautiful MDF ornamental frame in my Prika DT kit last month and have been wanting to alter it since. So here it is finally done!

A lot of trying and testing happened on this cute little frame before I finally settled with these gorgeous colors. Since it was a simple MDF cutout, I used prima moulds to add ornamental dimension to it. I used IMMIX crackle texture paste for the amazing background layer on it.

I covered everything up in black gesso and then experimented with metallic colors from prima. I finally settled with dark velvet, gold rush and hints of fuchsia pink. I topped it all with some prima waxes in the colors mystic turquoise and rose gold.

On the right hand-side I added an old metal frame from my stash and some clay embellishments. I then decorated it with some rose buds and a pearl string.

While on the left hand-side, I added some metal leaf embellishments (covered in black gesso and topped with metallique waxes), rose flowers, buds and leaves.

Finally, I added some art stones colored in gold metallic color along with a small quote to bring it all together.

Making this shabby frame was too much fun for me as I got to experiment a lot. If you are inspired create something of your own do tag me in the pictures and share your love.

Until next time
XOXO

JK
